What's your favorite thing to do on a Saturday morning? I remember, before children, sleeping and staying in bed just seemed like the thing to do. OH BOY! Did things change after baby number one, you bet they did! Many things are shocking after the first child. I definitely remember counting how many days it had been since I slept the entire night. Those days were gone, sleeping in would never happen again. That's exactly what I was thinking in my head. Then I had baby number two and if you have two kids, you know sleeping was the last thing you were going to be doing.
I was at dinner with a neighbor and she was talking about a weekend mutual agreement she had with her husband. She said they started it after having kids. I had to stop her mid-sentence and ask her to please share with me. She explained that they each have a morning to themselves. That meant every Saturday morning she had until twelve o'clock to either sleep, stay in bed or run errands. Basically, FREEDOM! (At that moment my head was already spinning with ideas.) Then in return her husband had Sunday mornings to do the same. I immediately came home and explained this to my husband. We adopted this agreement the next weekend and have been loving it ever since then!
Saturday mornings are what I look forward to all week long. My husband gets up with the kids and I get my chance to sleep in for the week. Anything is better than a 5AM wake-up. Especially when you open your eyes to a three year old staring in your face. It's quite scary! Right? My favorite thing to do is sneak into the kitchen for a cup of coffee. I tip toe back to my bed and just relax! Yes, RELAX! I will normally catch up on my favorite shows or watch GMA. The night before I stack up magazines that I haven't had a chance to read. This is when I get to catch up on fashion and interior design. It's definitely been a life changer. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE my children but I also LOVE my alone time!
Before I'm done I can't forget about my fabulous buttery soft pajamas by PJ Harlow. I could stay in them all day. The fabric is so feminine and luxurious. It's the perfect weight for the Texas heat. I always feel so grown up in a robe. Don't you? They offer quite a few colors but I love the lavender. Lavender is always so calming. Check them out at Muse. They have a good color selection as well.
I'm so happy I could share a little bit of Motherhood with you. What works for you and your family? I'd love to hear about it, please share!
