Roses are RED

It's Monday again and the weekend was nice but of course too short. This is the second time I'm writing this blog post. I thought I was getting ahead and had everything prepared only to find my computer dead and the whole post GONE. YEP, GONE! That's always fun!

My husband took the kids to NASA this weekend and left me with a very quiet house.  I couldn't have asked for anything better than an empty house after an exhausting week. It's funny that when I'm home alone I turn off every TV and just enjoy the silence. My kids returned and had an amazing time and got in their "daddy" time. Sunday was spent cleaning and prepping for the week which includes all the Valentine's cards we had to organize for school. The kids are super excited. I ran to Target this weekend and got them both a DVD for the big day. I got Andy Secret Life of Pets and Olivia the TROLLS movie. Have you seen it? It's full of great dance music and colors. I loved it!

I scored this dress a few weeks ago when I was helping out Hunter Bell at The Sale in Houston.  The colors obviously caught my eye because they are beautiful and vibrant.  You definitely need to see this dress and try it on because I'm pretty sure you will falling love. It gives off a vintage look which I absolutely LOVE. I can't ever pas up a vintage looking dress. These colors are perfect for this week so I'll be pulling this dress out for Tuesday. We will probably just stay home and cook but that doesn't mean I can't dress up! What are your plans?

Did everybody recover from the Super Bowl? I'm still working on recovering but I still can't forget the Lady Gaga performance. It was freaking awesome! She looked amazing and entertained every person in my house. I think that says a lot. What did you do for the big game? Did you eat the worst possible food and feel terrible the next day? I'm pretty sure that's what happened in my house. I'm actually training for a half-marathon so I've been running 5 days out of the week and trying to eat healthy. My body was in shock on Super Bowl Sunday because I inhaled numerous plates of junk food and of course, alcohol. It was fun though and that's all that matters. I'm still bummed the Falcons didn't win. What team were you cheering for on Sunday?

I hope you are thinking about Valentine's Day because it's on the horizon.  If you have little ones you better get out there and get those Valentine's cards because they are most likely selling out of the ones you want. I ended up buying mine early this year because Target was almost sold out! I couldn't believe it and that was the beginning of January. For once, i'm early! That rarely happens.

I'm sure you are thinking does this chick have a thing for gray sweatshirts? The answer is YES, yes I do and I'm totally okay with that. They are cute and comfortable and that's a pretty good reason to keep wearing them. I love to dress up a sweatshirt by pairing it with a fun skirt. I think this would be a great outfit for Valentine's Day. The red skirt makes such a statement, you can't go wrong. Speaking of Valentine's Day do you celebrate? If so, I would love to hear what you do with your loved one. The kids obviously have fun but going out to dinner with your man isn't always fun because every restaurant is ridiculously busy.

Did you know the words on my sweatshirt are French? Just a little info for you! I was excited to get to shoot this fabulous Louis Vuitton Blue Epi Speedy handbag before we put it in the auction at the A Couture Cause Launch party. We are so grateful for Donae from The Vintage Contessa for her support over the past two years with ACC and for this fabulous auction item. I know the winner is loving her bag! I've recently had an obsession with all Louis Vuitton Epi Bags. I would love one in each color. They don't scream Louis Vuitton but they are classic and chic plus they come in so many colors. I'm BAAACK and I can't believe my last blog post was September 12, 2016.  I'm sure you've all wondered what the heck is going on? I know I would have thought the same thing.  The end of 2016 had man ups and downs and I decided it was best for me and my family to take a little break from the blog. I have to say it has felt amazing but I'm very happy to be back.  I hope you will check back weekly because I have some amazing things coming up in the next few weeks.

Where were you? Well, in the past few months I've had two miscarriages, sold a house, bought a house, lived with my in-laws, remodeled a house and finally moved in to our new home. It's been quite the ride. I definitely haven't lost my love for fashion or interior design or motherhood ideas. I just haven't had a spare second to share them with you. I realized that my break needed to happen not only for myself to emotionally and physically heal but for my family.  I've spent so much time with my little ones and my husband, of course.  It was definitely the best decision I've made in a long time. I run this blog and my social media channels by myself and most of the time I'm typing away while everybody in my house is asleep.  Since I work full-time it is hard to find a spare second.  When I started this blog I was staying up way too late and waking up way too early. I've figured out how to manage my time a little better, thankfully.  That's enough of the "mushy" stuff, let's talk FASHION!

I've been eyeing this sweatshirt for over a year and my mother-in-law surprised me with it at Christmas. I was so excited! I know the weather in Texas doesn't allow me to wear it that often but that makes it even more special for those times I do get to flaunt it. It gives an edgy look and I've paired it with numerous things. This one might be my favorite. It fits a little cropped so it looks best with high waisted bottoms. Unfortunately it's sold out and you probably can't find it anywhere but I've linked some similar items below. It will give the same look!

I found this skirt last year at Target, yes TARGET, can you believe it? I love the one from J.Crew but couldn't pass up this one because it's just so good! I've also paired this top with jeans and sneakers for a casual look that I wore running around taking care of a few errands.

I've kind of hat this thing with hats lately.  They hide my dirty hair but give an outfit a whole new meaning. Have you invested in a good hat? If not, check out my options below.

I'm saying goodbye to 2016 and not looking back! Thanks for following along and I hope you will continue to check back for new post and forgive me for my absence. Don't forget you can find me on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Pinterest and SnapChat (Simplyollie). Have a great day!
